Welcome to an exciting year of Discovery Camps!

2016 marks the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s 25th year at Fort Baker, and we have so much to celebrate! Discovery Camps have grown and evolved to now include offerings for an expanded age range (camps for 3 – 10 year-olds, and a junior counselor program for 10 – 16 year-olds). We’ve also added new camp themes, including Fab Lab City, in the Museum’s new Fab Lab! And this year we’re facilitating an off-site camp, at the Marin Art and Garden Center.

But don’t worry — you’ll still find plenty of sessions of your old favorites, like Fort Building and Super Heroes and Heroines.

Discovery Camps provide child-directed, inquiry driven learning through project-based, hands-on activities designed to intentionally boost creativity, STEM skills and critical thinking. Children come away with the skills and tools to support lifelong discoveries.

With the exception of our two new off-site offerings, all Discovery Camps take place at our one-of-a-kind location at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge on 7.5 acres of National Park land, providing a risk-friendly environment with quick access to the beaches, natural habitats, historic batteries and hiking trails that inspire much of our camp programming. Families will receive email communication each week summarizing the campers’ unique experiences.

We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new friends alike. And remember, Discovery Camps fill up quickly, so register soon!
