Summer Day Camps Explore the Arts, Sciences & Environment for Kids Ages 3 - 8

Registration is now open for summer Discovery Camps at the Bay Area Discovery Museum.

Small classes, BIG fun! Join the Bay Area Discovery Museum for summer camps full of non-stop fun and adventure for three to eight-year-olds! Kids can sign up for a different Discovery Camp each week to celebrate the joy of guided exploration and open-ended creative play. Facilitated by experienced educators and camp counselors, these camps engage young developing minds and bodies through innovative, interactive learning experiences, which inspire creative thinking. From science and the environment to arts and music, Discovery Camps nurture children’s innate creativity.

“Our camp atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and non-competitive,” says Enrichment Programs Manager
Danielle Pitchford. “We provide open-ended, child-directed experiences with a focus on process, not product. This enables children to enjoy the freedom of independent discovery and test their limits safely.”

Discovery Camps are offered by age (preschool, pre-kindergarten, school-aged and mixed ages) with a variety of themes to choose from, including shipwrecks and treasure hunts, innovation, art, exploring the bay, fort building, outdoor exploration, bugs, insects and spiders, and super heroes and heroines. Older kids ages 9 to 14 can gain leadership experience by participating in the wildly popular Junior Counselor program.

Camps run for one week at a time beginning June 1 and ending August 21. For more information, as well as schedule and registration, visit

About the Bay Area Discovery Museum

Creative thinking begins early in every child’s life. It enables original thought and the ability to see solutions where others don’t. It unlocks possibilities and fosters innovation. It provides the fundamental building blocks for success in school and beyond.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children. The 7.5 acres of natural beauty inspires families to engage in a world of possibilities. Framed by the majestic backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, the museum is a space for imaginations to run wild. Every curated detail of our exhibits brings creative thinking to life for all stages of childhood. Navigate winding tunnels to develop physical and intellectual risk-taking skills. Feel the rush of cold-water tide pools that surprise and awaken curiosity. Imagine new worlds by transforming into a spider, a ship captain, or a bridge builder. At every turn is a new opportunity to challenge the boundaries of creativity.

Now we are taking these experiences beyond our physical location. We launched the Center for Childhood Creativity in 2011 to pioneer new research, thought-leadership, and teacher training programs that advance creative thinking in all children—extending our impact beyond the Museum.

Our mission: To ignite and advance creative thinking for all children.
