Resource Fair to Connect Under-Resourced Families with Community Partners and Celebrate School Readiness

4/9/15

Bay Area Discovery Museum’s Week of the Young Child Celebration features 13 community partners for a fun day of resources and school readiness activities on April 12

Bay Area families and their children are invited to the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s Week of the Young Child Celebration on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Museum will bring together community partners to serve and connect under-resourced families with essential community resources, as well as feature fun literacy, math and science school readiness activities.

A wide variety of community partners, including the FLAGShip Bus, Marin Child Care Council and The Riley Center, will be on hand to discuss everything from car seat safety to being a new parent. Families can receive free medical screenings from USCF, sign up for a library card from the Marin County Free Library and learn about child nutrition from the Children’s Council of San Francisco. Children can enjoy engaging early math activities and two special math and literacy-focused storytimes with Museum staff.

These resources as well as a variety of fun activities focused on literacy and child readiness are included in the cost of admission. Learn more about this event at www.BayKidsMuseum.org/festivals.

About Bay Area Discovery Museum

Creative thinking begins early in every child’s life. It enables original thought and the ability to see solutions where others don’t. It unlocks possibilities and fosters innovation. It provides the fundamental building blocks for success in school and beyond.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children. The 7.5 acres of natural beauty inspires families to engage in a world of possibilities. Framed by the majestic backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, the museum is a space for imaginations to run wild. Every curated detail of our exhibits brings creative thinking to life for all stages of childhood. Navigate winding tunnels to develop physical and intellectual risk-taking skills. Feel the rush of cold-water tide pools that surprise and awaken curiosity. Imagine new worlds by transforming into a spider, a ship captain, or a bridge builder. At every turn is a new opportunity to challenge the boundaries of creativity.
