The Importance Of Scheduling Time For Yourself As A New Parent
Being a parent is the best experience anyone can have, but it can be overly stressful and frustrating, especially when you have to care for your child alone. There is really no way of knowing what to expect as a parent, but it is more difficult if you do not have a present partner to assist you, and this goes both ways. The way out is to do the best you can and, most importantly, make time for yourself.
Single parents have a lot on their plates, which often leaves them with no time to care for themselves. While this may seem like what is best for the kids, it is also a risky path to tread. Living a life without finding time to relax is often hazardous, both mentally and physically.
The stress level and frustration is higher for new single parents for obvious reasons. If you are a new parent struggling to gain control of your situation, the first thing to do is to make time for yourself. Having a you-time is essential occasionally to avoid driving yourself into postpartum psychosis.
How To Make Time For Yourself
First, you need to find a balance between you and yourself as a parent. The key to finding a balance is by setting boundaries. As a parent, your child needs a lot of care and attention from you, but this shouldn’t stop you from having time for yourself. You need to set boundaries and make time for yourself without feeling guilty.
Guilt is one reason most parents, especially new ones, drown in frustration and stress until they finally sink.
Here’s how to have a you-time as a new parent:
- Go for walks
Taking a walk is really important for your mental health. Nothing cleans the mind as adequately as taking a quiet walk in the morning before your child wakes up.
- Take a special trip
If you have the money and someone to help you take care of your baby for a little while, you can take a short trip. Single parents often give all they have into raising their children while neglecting their own wants. They are often consumed with fear of not meeting up to their responsibilities as single parents. Take a break! Having to do the task at hand alone is already hard enough, take some time off to help you find yourself.
One of the favorite places for tourists looking to achieve full relaxation is Jeju Island in Seoul. Seoul is the best location for unwinding and relaxation. There is no harm in having a bit of fun after going through a life-changing journey alone. So, visit the famous Jeju rooms. A place where you can breathe, relax, have fun, and have a feel of what it was like when you were as free as a free bird, without playing the role of a parent for that moment.
- Get a manicure and pedicure
The little things matter most in some cases. If you can’t afford a trip, you can opt to get a manicure and pedicure. Getting a pedicure or manicure is one of the best ways of relaxing, and it can help you get a feel of the real you.
- Do some yoga and stretches
Yoga can never be underrated. The feeling that comes with meditating and relaxing your mind after experiencing a stressful day or night is so wonderful. A little yoga and a few stretches can also help you relax your muscles and maintain a good body shape. This, in turn, helps to build your confidence. As a new parent, confidence is a significant attribute to have.
Why You Need To Make Time For Yourself As A New Parent
- Your mental, physical, and emotional health is at stake
Caring for a child is draining, especially when you do not have a partner. Lack of care and attention for yourself can affect your mental, physical, and emotional health. Make time for yourself as often as possible.
- It makes you a better parent
You can only take proper care of your child when you are fully relaxed and emotionally okay. The best way to achieve this is by scheduling time for yourself. It doesn’t have to be a full day or even half, sneaking in a bit of you-time every now and then will go a long way
- They grow up
One truth you need to keep in mind is that they grow up, and they will move out when they do. While dedicating a significant part of your life to your child is expected, it is essential to keep in mind that you have your own life to live. If you let your whole world revolve around them, you may be lost when you are finally left alone.
- You are not just a parent
YOU ARE NOT JUST A PARENT! Before you became a parent, you were a person with ambitions, goals, and hobbies; you had a life. Try to maintain a balance between your personal life and your life as a parent. Do not let yourself go.
Conclusion
Scheduling time for yourself as a new or old single parent is crucial for maintaining a smooth transition. You can not reach your full potential as a parent without being emotionally, mentally, and physically ready for it. Always make time for yourself.

When Should You Let Your Children On Social Media?
One of the strongest fears most parents have is that their children will be exposed to the adverse effects of social media. This is a very valid fear, especially considering how wild the social media space is becoming.
As the world enters the technology age, it becomes more difficult to keep kids away from social media. Social media has advanced to the point of becoming the best place to communicate with others and also gain fast access to important news. Due to this development, parents are mostly left with little or no option but to allow their kids access to social media.
The question of when to let your children on social media is understandably one of the most asked questions globally. While social media has many benefits, it also has its bad sides, which can negatively affect users, especially kids.
Most social media platforms do not have strong restrictions for children under the appropriate age, exposing them to inappropriate posts.
Various professionals have answered the question of when to allow your children on social media, but read on to learn about our own perspective as parents.
The best time to allow your children on social media is when they are in middle school. When they are at least 11 years old. This may not sit well with many parents, especially as 11 is still considered very young.
A child at age 11 can still obey your rules with little or no argument. This way, you can easily set strict rules and monitor what the child does on social media. Waiting until your children are 16 before letting them on social media is risky because you no longer have much control over them.
Measures To Take When You Allow Your Children on Social Media
Seeing as parents do not have much control over whether or not their children should be on social media, we have to consider taking certain measures. The main area of concentration should be on how to ensure that your children do not get exposed to the negative side of social media.
Here are some of the measures to take;
1.) Try to control the algorithms on social media
While this may not be easy to achieve on some social media platforms, you can limit your children to those that can be managed. One such website is Reddit. Reddit showcases posts based on their relevance, which is determined through upvotes.
Some of my friends and I figured out how to control the posts our children are exposed to on Reddit. We used our children’s phones to search for some of the most relevant, eye-catching, and appropriate posts and ensured that they were the first posts to pop up when the page opened. We bought all our Reddit upvotes here online from a reliable source to help us achieve our goal.
So far, we have been able to control what our children do on Reddit.
2.) Monitor what the children do online
Go through your children’s social media pages to monitor what they do. Go through their friends list, and monitor the kind of content they search for and post. Talk to them whenever you notice something off.
3.) Parental control
Some social media platforms, such as Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, have parental control settings. You can easily control the kind of posts your children can access on these platforms. This is similar to what we did on Reddit, but it is easier.
4.) Place a time restriction
Social media is addictive even for adults; imagine what it can do to kids. Place a time restriction on when your children should be off social media. Some health experts have warned against the effects of too much screen time for children. The best way to handle this situation is by taking the phones from the children when it’s bedtime.
Sleep deprivation is dangerous for kids, and this can easily happen when they are online. Placing a time restriction is crucial for kids below 16.
Conclusion
Most parents wish to keep their children away from social media for as long as possible. However, considering how technologically inclined children are in today’s world, it is almost impossible to do so.
Keeping them away from social media will make them feel left out, and we don’t want that for our kids. The best solution is to let them on social media while you can still control them. This way, you can shape their minds to what is and what is not appropriate for them.
You can allow your children on social media when they are at least 11 years old. Lastly, ensure that they are mature enough to be given such an allowance. Make them understand that there will be consequences if they don’t follow your rules.

Which Social Media Sites Are Truly Child Friendly?
Being a parent has never been easy. But it has become vastly more complicated in the digital age. The internet has forever changed the world. And the rise of social media in the last two decades has made parenting a lot more complex and difficult at times. Social media has become a staple for many members of the younger generations.
There is a lot of debate surrounding the efficacy of allowing children access to social media. The prevailing consensus is that social media is extremely unhealthy and it is dangerous to allow children access to the platforms. While others claim that it can be a very nurturing and positive space for children.
Both sides of the argument have their valid points. And we would say that allowing your children onto social media is fine as long as you moderate how much time they can spend on it. And also moderate what content they are consuming. But this second part is far easier said than done. The first step is finding out which social media sites are actually child friendly. And that is what we are going to be doing here.
TikTok
While TikTok is not the most popular social media platform out there, it is undoubtedly the one with the biggest percentage of young users. Amongst the younger generations, TikTok is everything! And we have no doubt that your own children will likely want to use TikTok.
TikTok does recommend that only people aged 13 and up use the platform. And we would agree with their assessment. The main issue with TikTok is that it has become filled with a lot of mature content. And unlike some other platforms where you have to actively select what content you wish to see, TikTok will often slip inappropriate content into a user’s feed.
But this can be avoided by using the parental control features the app offers. This allows you to better control your child’s access to the app. Including limiting their screen time and stopping them from searching for specific content. So as long as you are being wary and vigilant then TikTok is absolutely safe for your child to use.
Reddit is quite unique amongst social media platforms in that it doesn’t feature a lot of the hallmarks that usually define the medium. The site is essentially free of influencers. There isn’t an emphasis on amassing followers. And people don’t post things directly on their own profile.
Instead Reddit is split up into subreddits. Small communities created by users. Each subreddit is dedicated to a specific topic. The website uses an open forum style of communication. Users can make posts in subreddits and then the community can comment on said posts. The popularity of a post or comment is tracked by upvotes or downvotes. This voting system allows users to express their opinions without the need for actively commenting. And it also allows moderators to better find troubling content.
Reddit is also one of the safest ways for your children to advertise their Twitch streams if they are into that. Services like rupvote.com can help them get ahead without exposing them to any of the more unsavoury or predatory agents you might find while marketing on Instagram or TikTok.
Reddit doesn’t have any inbuilt parental control like TikTok. But there are plenty of third party apps that will allow you to monitor what your children are getting up to on the app. But the good thing about Reddit is that it often only shows you content from subreddits you are following. Or from similar subreddits to those you already follow. Meaning it is extremely difficult to find inappropriate content without actively searching for it.
So we would say that Reddit is potentially child friendly, providing you take the time to install some third party parental control apps and carefully monitor which subreddits they are viewing. The recommended age requirement for Reddit is 13 and over. And we think this is a good guideline to follow.
Instagram is a bit better than TikTok when it comes to hiding inappropriate content. Although there have been a few instances over the last two years where the algorithm shows inappropriate content for a day. Meta confirmed this is a bug and they are actively working to handle it.
Instagram does come with inbuilt parental controls. Which is especially useful as Instagram has a bit more of a direct communication style than TikTok or Reddit. It is all too easy for children to fall victim to scams or grooming through social media platforms like Instagram. So it is vital that you monitor their massaging activity where possible.
Like Reddit and TikTok, the recommended age for Instagram is 13 and over. And we do believe this is a good guideline to follow. But we would also suggest maybe waiting until your children are 14 or even 15 before allowing them access to the platform.

Gaming Addiction: How To Help Your Children Beat It
What Is Gaming Addiction
The rise of the digital age has brought with it many new challenges for us to face as a society. And one such challenge is video gaming addiction. Sometimes called internet gaming addiction, it is characterized by an inability to control one’s gaming habits. This leads to a severe lack of care being given to the other aspects of one’s life.
You will have likely seen the stereotypical gaming addict in many TV shows and movies. Often a nerdy young man in his basement. Lit only by the computer screen. Old fast food wrappers and empty soda cans all around them. While this is more rare in reality, it isn’t totally untrue. Gaming addiction can very much lead to this type of living standards. One where basic hygiene, health, and socialisation are disregarded in favour of gaming.
Video gaming addiction has been on the rise in recent years. Especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. Modern video games are often designed to be as addictive as possible and target the younger generations. More and more we are seeing parents struggling to deal with their child’s gaming addiction.
Too many parents make the mistake of simply trying to stop their children gaming completely. But this is not the answer. This strategy will only make them resent you and likely cause them to relapse harder in adult life. This guide will walk you through the best ways of helping your children overcome their gaming addiction.
Limit Gaming Time
Cutting a child’s gaming time out completely is not the right answer. But you should be limiting it. Even if they aren’t addicted to video games it is a good idea to only allow them a few hours of gaming time a week. A good rule of thumb to go by is a maximum of an hour of gaming every night.
This doesn’t have to be a hard and set rule either. Perhaps on the weekends, providing they have done their chores and homework, they could get a few extra hours of gaming. The key here is to ensure that your children have a well rounded daily schedule of activities. Gaming can still be a part of their life. But it shouldn’t consume it.
Change The Games They Play
One of the main reasons that gaming addiction is becoming so common is due to the fact that a lot of the most popular games are designed to be as addictive as possible. Fortnite, for example, is designed to give players constant dopamine hits. It is bright, engaging, quick, and filled with instant gratification game loops. So it is no surprise that children quickly become addicted.
You need to better cater what games your children are allowed to play. Older titles are a good place to start as they were never designed to be addictive. Puzzle games are another great choice. Not only are they fun and engaging but also provide a good mental workout for your children too. You should also try getting your children to play the many free online games that can be found on web browsers. These titles are designed to be enjoyed in short bursts and often lack the addictive gameplay loops of bigger triple-A titles.
You should also try getting your children to play more board games or tabletop games. This is a great way to help satisfy their gaming itch while also reconditioning their brains. Board games, by nature, can’t provide as much instant gratification as a video game. But they still provide all the mental benefits of gaming. Helping to strengthen your children’s logical thinking and creativity.
Spend Quality Time With Them
A lot of children get so lost in gaming as a means of escaping the real world. Times are tough out there for everyone. Especially young children. Their gaming addiction could very well be a product of a deeper issue.
That is why it is so important that you spend as much quality time with your children as possible. Getting to know them. Their interests, dislikes, their thoughts and feelings. You should work to cultivate a safe environment for them. One where they feel comfortable coming to you with any issues they are having.

A Parents Guide To Helping Your Child Ace Their Exams
After all the duration of learning, the determinants of how much your child has been able to grasp are regular and final exams. If your child fails to achieve the required pass mark, they will be deemed to have not understood the course outline and will have to resit the exams. Your child may have been attending classes and grasping concepts but didn’t prepare adequately and properly for the exams. That is one of the leading causes of eczema failure in most cases and which can be avoided.
How do you ensure that your child braces the exams and meets the expectations without fear? The answer is through proper planning and help from the parents. Hence, even though the exams can be stressful for you and your children, you need to do your part. Provide the right support at the right time to enable your child to easily walk through their learning. Your support will be evident by the difference in their exam performance.
Herein, we have compiled a comprehensive guide to helping your child pass their exams without too much struggle. Keep reading.
Agree on Goals and Expectations
The first step in achieving academic success is knowing where your child is at and what you want them to achieve. That can be done by setting clear goals and expectations for exam success. You need to discuss the way forward with your child before the exams approach.
Agree on how to improve grades by mastering the specific subjects. Encourage your child to set achievable goals to avoid disappointments. Let them list the study areas they are not fully comfortable with their concepts and agree on a tailored approach that aligns with their abilities and aspirations.
Come Up with a Study Plan
Every academic goal, including preparing to pass exams, must have a well laid out plan. A well-structured study plan will ensure that your child employs effective exam strategies. As a parent, you must participate in creating a proper study schedule.
A well-organized study plan will help your child stay focused and manage their time well. The plan should allocate adequate time for each subject and further break down each subject into manageable lessons, prioritizing areas your child hasn’t been performing well or the difficult topics or subjects.
Provide a Conducive Environment
Learning and understanding only occur effectively if undertaken in a healthy environment without distractions. As a parent, creating a supportive learning space within your home will help your child assume a classroom environment and become serious and keen on studies.
Allocate a quiet and comfortable study room where your child can revise without being disturbed by other family members or unnecessary noises. Ensure the study space has basic materials such as textbooks, notebooks, and stationery. If your child has any questions or concerns, let them feel free to interact with you or the tutor, as this will lower any exam-related stress and anxiety.
Propose Revision Strategies
Studying for exams requires your child to be strategic and not go over every piece of content learned. Targeting key concepts in their simple form will enhance your child’s retention and understanding of course material. You should encourage your child to use summaries, flashcards, and teaching concepts rather than trying to master every wording in a given topic.
Additionally, to prepare them mentally and manage their time well during the actual exams, you can buy test banks here for practicing past exam papers. Allow them to note the hard questions and request assistance and clarification when needed. By continuously revising using these materials, your child can improve their answering skills, identify weak points, and gain exam confidence.
Enforce Healthy Living
Studying for long hours doesn’t proportionately result in improved learning but can lead to fatigue and poor results. Encourage your child to live a balanced lifestyle for optimal brain function and exam performance. Emphasize the need to take breaks for their physical and mental well-being. Ensure they have adequate sleep, eat healthy meals, and stay hydrated. More so, participating in physical and regular exercises is also known to reduce stress and enhance concentration levels.
Appreciate Achievements
Not every time your child performs at their best, their grades could drop in one year and improve in the other. Sometimes, parents are keen on pointing at failed subjects and forget to congratulate good performance in other areas. Hence, recognizing good performance, even in one area of study, by providing positive reinforcement can boost their confidence and motivation. Appreciate good efforts such as completing study goals, grasping hard concepts, or achieving better grades with words of praise, encouragement, and maybe a treat. Assure them that after trying their best, their exam results will not define who they are, and regardless of the final results, life goes on.
Conclusion
As much as your child is the main beneficiary of learning, it is also your responsibility and pride to see your child succeed. Helping children succeed often starts with creating a safe and secure environment for kids at home. A quiet and hazard-free space for studying can foster focus and creativity. Providing them with your personal support, resources, and encouragement will make a big difference in their learning. That will also help them meet their study goals and apply their career objectives with confidence.

Understanding Minecraft and Its Benefits For Children
Minecraft, a popular sandbox video game, has taken the world by storm. With its blocky graphics and open-ended gameplay, it offers a unique experience that appeals to players of all ages. While many perceive Minecraft as just another game, it actually holds numerous benefits for children. In this blog post, we will delve into the world of Minecraft, exploring its various aspects and discussing how it can positively impact a child’s development.
What is Minecraft?
At its core, Minecraft is a virtual world where players can explore, build, and create. Setting up a gaming corner as part of a kid-friendly entertainment space not only enhances the Minecraft experience but also keeps children safe by eliminating electrical hazards and clutter. It is often referred to as a sandbox game because it provides players with a vast open-world environment and gives them the freedom to shape and mold it as they please. The game features different modes, including survival mode, where players must gather resources and survive against various challenges, and creative mode, which allows unlimited resources and encourages unrestricted creativity.
Benefits of Minecraft for Children
- Minecraft serves as a canvas for children to unleash their creativity and imagination. The game’s building blocks and tools enable them to construct intricate structures, landscapes, and even entire cities. Whether it’s designing a towering castle or crafting a pixel art masterpiece, Minecraft empowers children to bring their wildest ideas to life.
- Minecraft presents players with various obstacles and puzzles that require problem-solving skills to overcome. From navigating treacherous landscapes to devising strategies for defeating enemies, the game prompts children to think critically and develop innovative solutions. These problem-solving experiences within Minecraft can translate into real-life situations, enhancing their analytical thinking abilities.
- Minecraft offers multiplayer functionality, allowing children to play and collaborate with friends or other players online. This fosters teamwork and cooperation as they work together to achieve common goals. Whether it’s constructing a massive structure or embarking on an adventure, the multiplayer aspect of Minecraft encourages children to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and learn to work together as a team.
- In today’s digital age, it is crucial for children to develop essential digital skills. Minecraft provides an opportunity for them to learn and enhance their technological proficiency. From basic computer literacy to more advanced skills such as Minecraft coding camps and redstone circuitry, the game acts as a platform for acquiring valuable digital skills that can be utilized in various other areas of life.
- Beyond its entertainment value, Minecraft has also been embraced by educators as a powerful educational tool. It can be integrated into various subjects, such as mathematics, science, history, and even language arts. By designing educational activities and challenges within the game, teachers can make learning engaging and immersive for students. Minecraft’s educational potential lies in its ability to captivate children’s attention while simultaneously delivering educational content.
- Minecraft’s block-based world requires players to navigate and manipulate objects in three-dimensional space. Through building structures and exploring the environment, children develop a sense of spatial awareness and understanding of geometry. They learn to visualize and apply principles like symmetry, proportions, and angles, which can have real-world applications in fields such as architecture and engineering.
- In survival mode, Minecraft challenges players to gather resources, manage inventories, and plan their actions strategically. Children learn the importance of resource management, prioritization, and decision-making.
- They must consider the value and utility of different materials, balance immediate needs with long-term goals, and devise efficient strategies to thrive in the game. These skills translate into real-life situations requiring effective planning and resource allocation.
- Minecraft is not without its share of setbacks and obstacles. Children face challenges, encounter monsters, and may even lose progress due to unforeseen events. However, these experiences teach resilience and perseverance. As children confront adversity within the game and learn to bounce back from failures, they develop a growth mindset and resilience that can be applied to other areas of life, fostering determination and the ability to overcome challenges.
Parental Guidance and Safety Measures
While Minecraft offers numerous benefits, it is essential for parents to provide guidance and establish necessary safety measures. Setting screen time limits, ensuring age-appropriate content, and monitoring online interactions are crucial steps for ensuring a safe and balanced gaming experience for children. Additionally, parents can explore reputable and secure Minecraft servers where their children can play with other like-minded individuals under a controlled environment.
Finding The Best Child-friendly Minecraft Servers
When it comes to finding the best Minecraft servers for children, there are several options that prioritize safety, child-friendly environments, and engaging gameplay. The best servers have been recognized for their commitment to providing a secure and enjoyable gaming experience for children. I was searching for some good recommendations for my kids during this summer holiday and luckily I found working and active Minecraft servers here at Minecraft.Buzz.
Nonetheless, it’s always important for parents to review and monitor server rules, community guidelines, and safety measures specific to each server to ensure a positive experience for their child. Also, only choose those servers that are from trusted sources only.
Conclusion
Minecraft goes beyond being a simple video game; it is an interactive world that unlocks a multitude of benefits for children. Through its creative freedom, problem-solving challenges, collaboration opportunities, and skill development potential, Minecraft provides a stimulating and educational experience. By guiding and monitoring their children’s gaming experiences, parents can harness the full potential of Minecraft and offer an enriching platform for their child’s growth and development. So, let’s embrace the blocky adventures of Minecraft and watch as our children flourish in this virtual world of endless possibilities.
